This admissions policy covers applications for places at the school for September 2011.

Admission in Years 7 to 11

Skipton Girls' High School is a selective school, so girls who wish to join the school in Year 7 sit a selection test. Although we are responsible for our own admissions as a foundation school, these are organised and administered by North Yorkshire LA, and further information can be obtained from the school or from the Harrogate Local Education Office:

Harrogate Local Education Office
Ainsty Road
Harrogate
HG1 4XU

Telephone: 0845 034 9467

If more girls are successful in the test than can be offered places at the school other criteria including home school distance are taken into account.

All applications for places in years 7-11 must be made using the Common Application Form. This can be obtained from your local authority.

We hold an Open Evening for girls at the end of Year 5 and their parents each year, but prospective pupils are also most welcome to visit the school during the school day. A prospectus is available from the school, and we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
Girls can also apply for admission into other years; again please contact the school for advice.

These documents are for entry in September 2010.

Every year we welcome a significant number of students into our Sixth Form from other schools. A Sixth Form Prospectus and Application Form can be obtained from the school (or from your own school's Careers Library); the normal date for applications to be received by the school is around the end of January, but applications can still be made after this time.

There is no selection test for entrance to the Sixth Form; we admit students on the basis of their GCSE grades and a reference from their current school. We would expect an absolute minimum of 5 GCSE grades at C or above, with B grades in the relevant subject required for most of our A Level courses.

We hold a Sixth Form Open Evening each year, but you are most welcome to visit the school or ask questions at any time.
