SGHS Enrichment Week 2017
Students at Skipton Girls’ High School have enjoyed a fantastic week of enriching activities and visits in venues across the globe from Amsterdam to Washington DC, London to Barcelona.
Designed to give staff and students the chance to put examinations and assessments behind them and relish new experiences on offer, Enrichment Week 2017 took students beyond their normal experiences and urged them out of their comfort zones.
There was something to suit all tastes – the school-based project creating of a wall mural inspired by Japanese art and complementing the vertical garden space; the USA visit enriched the historic, political and cultural understanding of all who went; theatre experiences in London, arts and historical ventures at the heart of the Netherlands, mathematical and scientific challenges at Bletchley Park and London’s Science Museum also featured.
For the more adventurous, excitement awaited with PGL, Thrills and Spills and watersports in Barcelona allowing students to try a wide variety of new activities including climbing, abseiling, tree-top trekking, sailing, paddle-boarding and many more – not for the faint-hearted!
Throughout the week there were many individual achievements and personal ‘firsts’. Teamwork, fun and learning abounded for students and staff alike. It was a fabulous way to round off another busy and successful school year at Skipton Girls’ High School.
