Gin Tasting Night Success

Twinkling fairy lights, girls playing piano and a large pink iced glass of gin & juniper berries welcomed guests on April 27th to Friends’ very first Gin Tasting Night. What a great night!

Since the inception of the Friends of SGHS group two years ago, this was by far their most successful fundraiser, raising a magnificent £1,420! These funds will go directly towards The Hollow’s refurbishment for sports use for our girls.

A huge thank you to over 80 parents and staff who bought tickets and supported the event. Thank you to The Red Lion in Burnsall and Skipton Tesco for delicious food donations for the Middle Eastern Buffet. A fantastic spread of taramasalata, lamb kofta, chicken tagine, tztazki, falafel and humus all served up to tempt the taste buds.

A massive thank you also goes to the fabulous parent community who gave up their Friday night to help in the kitchen, serve a multitude of gins and garnishes and wash up mountains of glasses. It is always good to get feed back from parents and the main criticism seem to be;  ‘Tickets should have cost more. Just too good a deal!’

The biggest thank you of all goes to Julian Kaye of Wright Wine Company Skipton for being the most wonderful host and for so generously donating the gin for the evening. Without him the event couldn’t have happened.

We have lots more planned before the end of the summer term including a Games Night and Summer Celebration, so please join us.
