As an Academy we are responsible for our own admissions. Skipton Girls' High School is a selective school, so girls who wish to join the school in Year 7 sit a selection test. If more girls are successful in the test than can be offered places at the school other criteria including home school distance are taken into account.
We hold an Open Evening for girls at the end of Year 5 and their parents each year, but prospective pupils are also most welcome to visit the school during the school day. If you contact the school we will also be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Girls can also apply for admission into other years; again please contact the school for advice.

Appeals
Parents of candidates who have not been allocated a place have a statutory right of appeal and can obtain an appeal form from school after formal notification of places by the local authority. These must be completed and returned to the school by the published deadline.
The Appeals Panel is constituted in accordance with the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 and all members are independent of the school and of the Local Authority. Its decisions will be binding on the Admission Authority and on the parents.
Every year we welcome a significant number of students into our Sixth Form from other schools.
There is no selection test for entrance to the Sixth Form; we admit students on the basis of their GCSE grades and a reference from their current school. We would expect an absolute minimum of 5 GCSE grades at C or above, with B grades in the relevant subject required for most of our A Level courses.
We hold a Sixth Form Open Evening in November each year, but you are most welcome to visit the school or ask questions at any time.
