Admissions (Year 7-11)
Registration for the selection tests for 2021 entry is now open.
Due to the Covid-19 situation all four grammar schools in our consortium for the entrance exam for September 2021 entry have taken the decision to delay the entrance exam to Saturday October 17th 2020. This is to allow Year 6 students a little more time to readjust following the disruption caused by Covid-19. We will still be able to provide parents with test results before the deadline for the local authority’s Common Application Form. We apologise for this change to our published calendar but believe it is in the best interests of the students.

We are delighted that you are considering Skipton Girls' High School for your child's future education.
As an Academy we are responsible for our own admissions. Skipton Girls’ High School is a selective school, so girls who wish to join the school in Year 7 sit a set of selection tests. If more girls are successful in the tests than can be offered places at the school other criteria, including home to school distance are taken into account.
Year 5 Open Evening
We usually hold an Open Evening for girls and their parents at the end of Year 5 however this year, in view of the current COVID-19 situation, this will not go ahead - instead we will be replacing it with a Virtual Open Evening. Tours of the school can usually be arranged on alternative dates for those who are moving into area, live overseas, or service families but again, in view of the current COVID-19 situation, we are unable to organise these tours at the moment.
Admission of students after the start of Year 7

Parents of candidates who have not been allocated a place have a statutory right of appeal and can obtain an appeal form from school after formal notification of places by the Local Authority. These must be completed and returned to the Admissions Appeals Office, North Yorkshire County Council by the published deadline (email email@example.com).
The Appeals Panel is constituted in accordance with the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 and all members are independent of the school and of the Local Authority. Its decisions will be binding on the Admission Authority and on the parents.
