Specialist Flavouring Demonstrations

Professor David Baines ( A world renowned flavourist from Bristol) & Mr Richard Seal (Of Food Dynamics from Gloucestershire), delivered a specialist flavourings session to the Year 10 Food Preparation & Nutrition GCSE group.  
 
The lesson was delivered through a mixture of lectures, demonstrations and seminars and included the following topics and activities:
  • What is Flavour? (Olfaction, Gustation and Chemethesis) 
  • Flavour and Culture 
  • Making a vegetarian meat flavour  
  • Seasonings 
  • Making a crisp seasoning 

It was a very interesting and engaging lesson which taught us a lot about our senses and how we apply these when tasting foods and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
