Welcome from our Head Girl Team
Our Head Girl Team is dedicated to continuing to foster the core values of our school and being exemplary students and role models to our younger students. Myself and Riva Sachdev and Anya Keeble, work closely with the senior leadership team, Student Executive and wider student body to ensure that the voices of all students are heard and valued.
Once in Year 13, students have the opportunity to join the student leadership team in roles such as House Captain, Head of House, Deputy Head Girls and Head Girl. These roles provide students the opportunity to exemplify their leadership, confidence and responsibility whilst being given the chance to leave a lasting and meaningful impact on the school.
The student leadership team is close–knit and dedicated to ensuring that community and positivity is encouraged and promoted. Student Leaders also work closely in partnership with the Wellbeing Champions who promote positive wellbeing during tutor time and in school–wide activities. We recognise that positive mental health and attitude help students to achieve their best and having students at the forefront leading this positive change is something we are very proud of. This role comes with training and recognition and adds valuable experience for our future.
In Sixth Form, we are encouraged to take more accountability for not only our learning, but to get involved in extracurricular activities and enhance our own personal growth. Study periods allow students to learn the value of time management and the importance of taking responsibility for our own learning which helps to bridge the gap between high school and university life.
Students are also encouraged to take the lead on extracurricular activities and becoming an active part of our school community by running clubs for younger students and promoting inclusion and kindness. This exemplifies the importance of one of our core values – community, and why it is a driving force behind everything we do here at Skipton Girls’.
Our personal development programme also allows students to gain real life experience and transferable skills through work experience, placement and volunteering. Whether this be through helping in a charity shops, care homes, businesses and even assisting in lessons with primary school students.
Sixth Form is a pivotal point in students’ educational journey, and we have extensive pastoral and academic support available throughout Sixth Form to ensure students can achieve their potential and feel their best. Teachers take an active part in maintaining students mental and physical wellbeing and are there to help them along every step of the way.
Skipton Girls’ High School Sixth Form fosters a positive learning environment with the pace to grow and develop into confident and independent young people ready for the adventures that lie ahead. The values of Skipton Girls shape us and prepare us to go out into the wider community being a conscientious and hardworking member of society.
